Kaimai Ward Community Expo Coming to Te Puna on 7 May
Western Bay of Plenty District Council is hosting a Community Forum Expo in the Kaimai Ward, giving locals a chance to kōrero directly with ward councillors and project leads about developments shaping their neighbourhoods. The event takes place on Wednesday 7 May at Te Puna School Hall from 7pm to 9pm.
Topics on the agenda include the SH2/Ōmokoroa Road intersection upgrade, the Te Puna/Lochhead/Pitua/Tangitu roundabout, the Te Puna Road/Te Puna Station Road intersection improvement, the Kaimai Draft Reserve Management Plan, community funding and grants, elections 2025, and emergency management — including a natural hazard simulation using VR goggles.
Kaimai Ward councillor Tracey Coxhead said there is plenty happening in the district and the forum is an opportunity for residents to get answers to their questions. "We would like to answer any questions you may have about these or other matters concerning you. We look forward to seeing you there," she said.
Councillor Anne Henry noted that previous expos had attracted around 50 residents and proved valuable for helping the community understand what council is working on. Residents can register their interest via the Western Bay of Plenty District Council Facebook page to receive reminder notifications ahead of the event.
