Pongakawa School Quiz Night Returns with 'Once Upon a Legend' Theme
Pongakawa School's annual quiz night is back on Saturday, June 7, and is shaping up to be the biggest yet with this year's theme 'Once Upon a Legend.' The broad theme is already sparking imagination, with organizers expecting to see everything from fairytale heroes and Māori myths to iconic New Zealanders. "It's a chance for people to really get creative," said PTA member and quiz co-ordinator Jess Siemelink.
The quiz night attracts attendees from Paengaroa, Pukehina, and across Tauranga. Last year's record-breaking event raised $50,000, which funded a full, weather-proof indoor-outdoor space for the junior block. This year, funds will go toward maintaining and expanding that area, as well as other school facilities. Guests can expect a three-course meal prepared by a chef, a licensed bar, and both live and silent auctions.
Tickets are available through Eventfinda for tables of eight, with dietary needs easily sorted online. Attendees can also book a sober driver for $10 per person to take them to Pukehina, Paengaroa, or Pongakawa. Businesses can sponsor a quiz round or table, donate items as prizes, or support the auction. Ray White Pukehina has won naming rights again for 2025.
