Waihī Beach to Athenree Pathway Concept Unveiled

The Western Bay of Plenty District Council has unveiled a draft concept plan for a shared pathway linking Waihī Beach and Athenree. This initiative aims to enhance community connectivity.

The proposed pathway will include a boardwalk across the Waiau Estuary, offering a scenic route for walkers and cyclists. It’ll also feature lookout spots for bird watching and fishing, enhancing the area's natural beauty.

Community consultations are set for later this month, allowing residents to provide their feedback and shape the final design, which is also seen as a potential evacuation route during emergencies.
