Athenree Recycling Centre Cuts Operating Hours

The Athenree Recycling Centre will be open on Sundays only, starting after this weekend. It's a decision made in response to a significant drop in visitor numbers.

Since the introduction of kerbside recycling, traffic to the centre has decreased sharply. The council aims to streamline services to better reflect community needs.

Residents are encouraged to utilise kerbside options for their recycling, but the Waihī Refuse Transfer Station remains available during the week for additional disposal needs.
