Ōmokoroa Artist John East Shows Native Bird Works in Katikati

Ōmokoroa-based artist John East is currently showing a new body of work at Carlton Gallery at The Arts Junction on Main Street, Katikati. Using bold acrylics, East brings native New Zealand birds and botanical elements together in striking compositions that celebrate colour and the natural world.

A graduate of Auckland's Elam School of Fine Arts, East's artistic approach has also been shaped by a background in marketing – where he often built large three-dimensional creations – as well as by daily life beside the sea and its surrounding landscapes and wildlife. His signature style seamlessly blends native birds with botanical elements into vivid, expressive works.

The exhibition is on now at Carlton Gallery, The Arts Junction, Main Street, Katikati.
