4x4 Trial Event Draws Biggest Crowd in Te Puke
The Bay of Plenty Four Wheel Drive Club hosted the Bay of Plenty round of the New Zealand 4x4 Trial on Rangiuru Road on March 23, drawing the largest crowd the event has ever seen. National champion Scott Biggs and co-driver Philip Walton finished third in the D Class, while Jarred Biggs and Fleche Crawford won the premier class, achieving back-to-back victories in the series.
Hosted by a small but dedicated team of volunteers, the event showcased one-day competition where drivers and co-drivers navigate various hazards for overall and class points. The community showed fantastic support through attendance and local business sponsorship, with naming sponsor BFGoodrich Tires and food vendors reporting strong sales. A donation will be made to Waipuna Hospice from funds raised by the event.
