Te Puke Sports Targets Baywide Rugby Title Retention Under New Coaching
Te Puke Sports has a new coaching team in 2025, with Martin Ash as head coach and former Super Rugby player Dan Hollinshead as his assistant, both putting players through their paces since late January. Ash is Te Puke High School's director of sports and was previously coaching at Paeroa Sports last season.
The team is aiming to retain the Baywide Rugby title won in 2024. Ash emphasized that the camp on Mōtītī Island was about breaking down barriers with a new player group and coaching staff. The team has made several signings including Johnny Rush as a 7 and Kieran Harris as their new lineout lock. "Last year's front row is still intact. We're looking very, very good," Ash said.
