Te Puke's Quinn Boyle Wins Silver at World Ice Swimming Championships

Quinn Boyle, brought up in Ōtamarākau, was part of the 15-strong New Zealand ice swimming team, the Frozen Ferns, that competed at the sixth World Ice Swimming Championships in Molveno, Italy, earlier this year. The 19-year-old won silver medals in the men's 18-24 age group 500m and 1000m events and placed fifth and sixth overall respectively in those two races.

It was Boyle's second world championships, having competed in France two years ago. Now studying agribusiness at Lincoln University in Canterbury, Boyle said he would like to thank the Te Puke and Western Bay of Plenty communities for their support, including multiple Te Puke businesses. The Frozen Ferns won more than 50 medals overall, with members breaking six world records and the team placing fourth overall.
