Katikati Kids Hunting and Fishing Competition Returns with $20k in Prizes

More than 150 tamariki are expected to take part in the Katikati-based Kids Hunting and Fishing Competition, running from 27 to 29 March. Now in its second year, the event is organised by Scott and Sarah Adamson alongside a team of volunteers, and this year boasts a bounty of up to $20,000 worth of prizes. The top prize is an inflatable boat with a 3.5hp outboard motor valued at $2,300.

The age limit has been lifted to 15 years old this year, up from 13 in the inaugural competition. The first 200 children to register will receive a goodie bag on signing in. Organisers are keen to draw participants from right across the district and have noted that families can register any time before the event — or simply turn up on the day to sign up.
