Katikati Herb Society Champions Herb Awareness Month 2025
The Katikati Herb Society is reaching out to the local community this month to highlight the healing and health properties of herbs, as part of New Zealand's annual Herb Awareness Month. The initiative is designed to promote the educational and health benefits of herbs, and this year's focus falls on chamomile, karamu, greater celandine, and globe artichoke.
Society president Jenny Ager-Pratt says there is a growing interest in natural health remedies, as well as an increasing desire among people to grow their own food and medicine at home. She attributes some of this to the rising cost of living, which is prompting more New Zealanders to look to their own gardens for both nourishment and wellness.
