Te Puke's Model T Ford Seeks New Home and Restoration
Ken Griffin of Te Puke has owned a Model T Ford in need of restoration for two and a half years. The car, shipped from Canada in 1923 with its chassis and motor, was completed in New Zealand as a right-hand drive vehicle. The body was built by CL Neilsen and Co Ltd in Dannevirke. Griffin has completed some work including installing an electric fuel pump and overhauling the starter motor, but finds the biggest challenge is locating expertise on Model T restoration. The car retains many original features including wooden spoked wheels, running boards, and a radiator, though it lacks interior seating and requires additional parts.
