Katikati A&P Show Draws Crowds with Competitions and Live Entertainment

The centenary Katikati A&P Show brought together a wide cross-section of the community, with a lively programme that included wood chopping, live music, and competitions open to all age groups. The home industry section, which originated as a space for women and children to display skills developed at home, remained a popular feature of the show.

Among those attending were staff from the Western Bay Museum, who arrived dressed in their finest butter-churning outfits, adding a cheerful historical touch to the occasion. A large number of information stalls were also set up across the showgrounds.

Young visitors got into the spirit as well — thirteen-year-old Lexie Evans from Reporoa came along with her blue-tongue lizard, while four-year-old Ted Griffin from Athenree won praise in the Home Industries area for his Lego farm-themed creation. Farrier Wade Irving travelled from Waihi to take part, and Katikati Volunteer Fire Brigade member Joe Manukau was also among those who attended.
