Family Tradition of Clydesdales on Display at Te Puke A&P Show

Dairy farmer Ross Wilson from Pongakawa will showcase the power of horses at Te Puke's A&P Show this Saturday, bringing a team of six Clydesdales to the event. Wilson uses the horses for various farm jobs including ploughing and feeding out to calves, continuing a family tradition that spans generations.

According to Wilson, his great-grandfather owned Clydesdales, and he has carried on the tradition. While he doesn't show the horses competitively, Wilson is happy to take them along to the show to give people wagon rides around the paddock. He notes that driving around the farm and feeding out to cows is more enjoyable than competitive showing.

The appearance at the A&P Show highlights the ongoing role of working horses in local farming and offers the community a chance to experience traditional farm practices firsthand.
