Summer Shakespeare brings Romeo and Juliet to Te Pune Quarry Park

The Summer Shakespeare Trust is putting a modern spin on one of the world's most beloved tragedies, with a new production of Romeo and Juliet set to be performed at Te Pune Quarry Park next month. Rather than a whimsical love story, the production is being described as a "brawl" — a fresh angle that promises a more visceral take on the tale of two young people from feuding families.

Romeo and Juliet, one of Shakespeare's earliest tragedies, has been adapted countless times across stage, film and musical theatre. This latest staging aims to bring something new to audiences in the Bay of Plenty region.
