Katikati College expects roll of over 800 students in 2025
Katikati College is heading into the 2025 school year with its strongest roll in recent memory, with principal Louise Buckley expecting more than 800 students when classes begin. Last year's roll sat at around 780, and Buckley says the growth is partly being driven by families from Ōmokoroa choosing Katikati College as an alternative to Tauranga schools.
The college also welcomes a growing cohort of international students, starting the year with 10 overseas learners. A group from Argentina will be joining for a month, and four short-term groups from Japan and China are also expected throughout the year. Year 7 students and new enrolments begin on 5 February, with all students returning on 7 February.
Principal Buckley extended a warm welcome to students, staff and whānau, particularly those joining the school community for the first time. "We have worked hard to ensure that the college, students, and staff are seen favourably in the wider community through their wonderful achievements," she said. The school office opens for new enrolments on 28 January.
